PROJECT Latacunga

Pastorelli

The living conditions of the campesinos (indigenous people of the "Sierra" at 2800 m) are very difficult, at such altitudes the earth yields little fruit, the crops are every year more scarce due to the impoverishment of the land, people should seek of arable fields and further away and at altitudes impossible and all work is manual, the constant cold, rain or strong winds are sometimes insurmountable obstacles.

The economic condition is obviously difficult, the causes for this are many and complex. Agriculture, once the only source of income, is currently in hand especially to women and children, and men are forced to move it across town or across the coast for longer or shorter periods, seeking work as laborers or porters .

And 'in this situation that the Marianist Sisters work and try to continue the literacy program for children of various villages of Latacunga, purely for the children "campesinos" (come from families that live far away from the center of Latacunga).

Lavoro nei campi The Marianist Sisters, at the request of the Bishop of Quito-Ecuador, before realizing they are in Latacunga, on the outskirts of Quito, the school children "Hermano Miguel", thanks to the commitment, sensitivity and solidarity of many people, such as children and the families of John XXIII School of Caldogno and GAM-Caldogno NGO Group for Missionary Animation.

We were able to trigger the first part of this project, which currently allows to accommodate 180 children, with a second portion 270 will be added; complete work school for 600 pupils, who need everything from uniform, exercise books, canteen, etc. ...

Famiglia numerosa The children greeted come from varied situations of material poverty, emotional, and moral, as explained above. The welcome, acceptance and love can make even these little open to the messages cultural, religious and human, offered by the school.

Slowly gain confidence and can laugh and learn. It 'a slow journey, but open to a horizon of hope, which relies on the willingness of all industrious, education, faith and the maternal presence of Mary, loving Mother of all His children especially the underprivileged.

"The creativity in charity" suggests more initiatives and endless ways to support himself, with many sacrifices and prayers, many of these little poverty.

We believe this bridge of love that has been established between Ecuador. Latacunga and Italy. Heartfelt thanks to each and everyone! Thank you to the chain of love and solidarity takes on the colors of the rainbow and unites us in one family!
